How I Reached the Top 4.2% of Etsy Sellers Without Living Online

This week I received an exciting update: I’m now in the top 4.2% of all Etsy sellers. That’s up from the top 5% just a few months ago. It’s a milestone that means a lot to me, not because of the number itself, but because of what it represents.

This isn’t a fluke. I’ve been a Top Rated eBay Seller since 2012, a Poshmark Ambassador, and the author of a #1 New Release book on Amazon. I’ve spent more than 25 years building an online business that supports my family and gives me the freedom to live life on my terms.

And here’s the surprising part: I don’t spend all my time online.

Family First, Always

This past weekend I cheered my son on as his cross-country team won their meet for the second week in a row. Afterward, I took my daughter out for her birthday. We went shopping and treated ourselves to boba tea.

While we were out celebrating, hundreds of dollars in sales rolled in automatically. No posting. No checking analytics. No launches running in the background.

That’s what I call a soft life—a business that continues to run while you live it.

The Secret? A System That Compounds

People often ask how I build a business like this. The answer is simple, but not always obvious: I use systems that keep working even when I’m not.

Instead of relying only on short-form content like Reels or TikToks that disappear in days, I build long-term visibility through platforms like Pinterest, blogs, and Etsy. Those are places where my work continues to reach new people month after month and sometimes even years later.

That’s what I call closing the Visibility Gap—the space between being seen once and being discovered every day.
