A New Way to Talk With You: Why Smart People Miss the Opportunities That Change Everything
For more than a decade I’ve been talking to you through words on a screen.
Blog posts. Emails. Tutorials. Long, thoughtful explanations written late at night or early in the morning, usually with a cup of tea nearby and a dog at my feet.
But recently, something has been tugging at me.
I want to talk to you.
Not polish. Not perfection. Just real conversations — face-to-face — about business, courage, opportunity, and the moments that quietly change the direction of our lives.
So today, I’m sharing something new.
I’ve started a vlog.
And the very first episode wasn’t planned, scripted, or staged. It was an impromptu session where I sat down and talked through something that’s been on my heart for a while: the speed at which we say yes to opportunity and what happens when fear slows us down.
The Moment That Sparked This
This past week, two very different mentors said nearly the same thing to me:
Success in business depends on the speed with which you make a decision and take aligned action.
That landed.
Because right now, I’m in the middle of recruiting speakers for the 2026 Online Income Playbook Summit, and I’m seeing something familiar play out again and again.
People say yes — tentatively.
They’re excited.
They see the opportunity.
And then… fear sneaks in wearing a very convincing disguise.
“I don’t have time.”
“I don’t know if I can put a free gift together.”
“I’m not sure I’m ready to be interviewed.”
“I don’t think I’m polished enough yet.”
I recognize it instantly, because I’ve lived it.
For years, I was the person who joined Zoom calls with my camera off.
The person who wanted to participate — but quietly backed away when it was time to be seen.
The person who wondered if I was thin enough, young enough, confident enough, enough.
That’s what this first vlog episode is really about.
When the Worst Thing Happens… and Life Goes On
In the episode, I share something I haven’t talked about much publicly.
During the second week of my very first summit, I ended up in the hospital.
A routine medical test turned into internal bleeding, emergency surgery, blood transfusions, and a long recovery. I wasn’t present. I couldn’t show up live. I couldn’t encourage speakers the way I wanted to.
And yet — the summit still ran.
Because it was prerecorded.
Because systems were in place.
Because I had built something that didn’t collapse when I physically couldn’t be there.
That experience changed everything for me.
It reinforced why I believe so strongly in building businesses that don’t require you to be “on” at all times, and why I’m so passionate about helping others do the same.
A Garden Lesson About Opportunity
One of my favorite moments in this episode comes from something simple.
I went out into the garden after a sudden warm spell. Just days earlier, it had been cold and gray. But the moment the sun returned?
Strawberries were flowering.
Paperwhites were pushing up.
Everything moved. Immediately.
Plants don’t hesitate.
They don’t wait until conditions are perfect.
They don’t ask if they’re “ready.”
They respond.
Opportunity works the same way.
There’s a window, and when we act gently, consistently, and before fear talks us out of it, momentum builds.
Not by doing everything.
Not by burning ourselves out.
But by taking the next aligned step.
Why This Vlog Exists
This vlog is my way of meeting you in real time.
Less polished.
More human.
More honest.
It’s a place where we’ll talk about:
Building income without burnout
Growing a business while raising a family
Navigating fear, imposter syndrome, and visibility
Creating systems that support your life, not consume it
And yes, it may eventually become a companion to — or even a replacement for — my long-running blog.
I want you to hear my voice.
See my face.
Feel less alone in the decisions you’re making.

You don’t have to be fearless.
You just have to be willing.
I’m really glad you’re here.
