Evergreen Content: What It Is and Why You Need It

I still remember the day it hit me.

I was driving home from work, stuck in a line of cars at a red light. My mind wandered to my infant son, and I wondered what he’d learned that day, what new thing I’d missed. He had just started crawling, and when I told his babysitter the news, she smiled and said, “Oh, he’s been crawling for about two weeks. I didn’t want to tell you because I thought you’d want to discover it yourself.”

And there I was, sitting in traffic with tears running down my face, realizing I had already missed it. I was working so hard to provide, but in the process, I was missing his life.

That moment planted the seed for everything I’ve built since. It’s why I believe so deeply in evergreen content—because I know what it’s like to feel torn between earning and being present. And I also know you don’t have to choose.

From Overwhelm to Evergreen

There was a time when I felt like I had to show up constantly online or my business would dry up. Every day was another reel, another caption, another post. It felt like a hamster wheel I could never get off.

But slowly, I began to see that not all content has to be temporary. Some things can live on, quietly doing their work long after you’ve moved on to something else.

A Lesson From the Summit

As you probably know, I recently hosted The Online Income Playbook Summit. It was a huge undertaking—late nights, endless to-do lists, interview prep, tech hiccups. Honestly, it stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.

So why did I offer it for free?

First, because I’m passionate about helping other moms like me. I wanted women to see that building income online is possible, even if they feel overwhelmed or behind.

But there was another reason too. I knew the summit could live on as evergreen content.

The live event is over, but now the recordings are packaged and available in my Etsy shop. I built a funnel so that when someone downloads my free Online Income Starter Kit, they’re offered the summit recordings at a special price—$67 until 8/25, then $97, and in the shop it’s $197. The reason it's discounted in the funnel is not only because I avoid Etsy fees when people buy direct from me but also because it fosters a sense of "insider" belonging for my audience and makes them more likely to return again and again to my offers.

I did the heavy lifting once. Now it can keep paying me for years with only a little maintenance. That’s the ripple effect of evergreen content: you serve, you sow, and then you harvest again and again.

Why You Need Evergreen Content

It’s common to think you have to outpost, out-reel, or out-hustle the algorithm. I've personally spend thousands on coaches who teach that very tactic. But the truth is, the most valuable thing you can create is content that outlasts the moment.

  • Evergreen content brings new people into your world every day.

  • It positions you as the authority, long after the launch week ends.

  • It lets you step away and live your life—without sacrificing growth.

Even this blog, which I began over a decade ago, still sends readers to my shops, my courses, my books. It’s not flashy. It’s not trendy. But it’s steady. And that steady stream has built my freedom.

Your Invitation

So here’s my invitation to you: the next time you sit down to create, don’t just think about today. Think about what you can record, repurpose, and resell tomorrow.

Start by grabbing my free Online Income Starter Kit. It will show you simple ways to set up systems that work while you’re living your life.

And if you’re ready for more—if you want clarity, freedom, and a proven system to get there—I’d love to invite you to apply for my coaching circle or 1:1 mentorship (a very limited number of spots are open, $15K per year by application only; email ateliermandaline@gmail.com if you want to apply). I also have a free masterclass coming soon that you won’t want to miss.

You don’t need to live chained to your phone. You can build a business that runs while you’re making dinner, reading on the dock, or picking tomatoes barefoot in the grass. That’s the gift evergreen content has given me—and it can do the same for you.
