I Didn’t Miss the Track Meet… and I Didn’t Miss Sales Either
If you’ve ever wondered how to turn one skill into something that actually supports your life (not takes it over)… I’m teaching this live at the Scaling Smart Summit this Wednesday:

On Friday, I spent the entire afternoon and evening at a track meet… two hours away.
We didn’t get home until after 10 PM.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that—sitting on bleachers, cheering, waiting between events—my son ran the mile and beat his personal record.
Two seconds faster than his previous best.
If you’ve ever watched your child push themselves like that… you know there’s nothing else you want to be doing in that moment.
Nowhere else you want to be.
And I wasn’t.
I wasn’t checking my phone.
I wasn’t trying to “keep up” with content.
I wasn’t worrying about what I should be posting.
But I was still making sales.
The funny thing is… this didn’t start at a track meet.
It started at my kitchen table.
Six years ago today (Facebook reminded me), I have photos of that same son—much smaller then—helping me pack orders.
My “coworker.”
No office.
No team.
No complicated system.
Just me… building something from one skill… with my kids right there beside me.
And for 25+ years, that’s how I’ve worked.
From home.
In between real life.
With my kids as my helpers, my interruptions, and honestly… my why.
But here’s what did change over time:
I stopped trying to make money from just one thing… one way.
And I started building around that one skill instead.
That’s how a simple, creative skill turned into a multi-tiered business.
Different offers.
Different entry points.
Different ways for people to find me, learn from me, and buy—without me having to be “on” all the time.
Not because I worked more.
But because I built something that works with my life.
Because the truth is…
Most people don’t have a lack of ideas.
They’ve just been handed a way of doing business that requires them to constantly show up.
Post more.
Go live more.
DM more people.
Be everywhere.
And if your life actually looks like… kids, family, responsibilities, appointments, long days, unexpected things— that kind of approach falls apart pretty quickly. What I built instead is simple:
A way for one skill to turn into multiple income streams… connected by a system that keeps working whether I’m online or not.
So yes… I can spend all afternoon at a track meet two hours away.
And still come home to sales.
That’s exactly what I’m teaching in my session at the Scaling Smart Summit this Wednesday:
How to scale what you already know by turning one skill into a multi-stream business.
Not by starting over.
Not by doing more.
But by building smarter around what you already have.

Because the goal was never to be on your phone all day.
The goal was always this:
To be there for the moments that matter… and still have a business that supports your life.
