How to replace the batteries in a recordable voice box
Pry open the box using a flat head screwdriver. |
A few weeks ago one of my customers who bought a recordable voice box from me THREE YEARS ago messaged me to say (and low-key complain) she'd never used it and now when she finally wanted to use it the battery had died. Now, I am a top seller on every one of my platforms because of the exceptional customer service I provide, so I went ahead and created a photo tutorial for her of the process. And she didn't even say thank you!
Oh well. I can only control myself; I can't police other people. I will say, batteries will die whether you use them or not and they can also leak all over the place and destroy your device so it's a good idea to remove them if you aren't planning to use the device for a while.
Anyway, I thought others might have the same question about replacing the batteries and I already had the photos so I decided to make a tutorial for everyone.
To get to the batteries you need to open the box. Pry it open by sticking a flat head screwdriver or something similar into the notches on either side of the case and twisting to pop the case open.
Push out the batteries with the screwdriver and slide in new ones |
When the case is open lift the top off. You will see the batteries, which are typical L44 watch batteries, are inside a little frame. You will need to use the screwdriver to push them out to the side to remove them. Pay attention to which side faces up. Insert the new batteries by sliding them in so they are in the same position as the originals.
When you do this the little round circuit board will probably lift up out of the case a little. That's okay. Just put it back in place inside the case. Put the top back on, making sure to line the button groove up with the slider button. Snap it back into place and you're done!
Follow these instructions to record your message |
To record your message follow the instructions on the photo. People ask all the time how they can get these boxes to play a crying baby sound. You would have to record a baby crying for that. If you don't have a baby you could find a recording of a baby crying on the Internet or TV and record it.
You can order these boxes, which are the same as those used at Build-A-Bear Workshop from my Etsy by clicking here.
